A Very New York Thanksgiving

This year we decided to put a little spin on our usual Thanksgiving ritual by spending it in NYC. We saw the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for the second time (the first time I saw it was almost 10 years ago!), which was really fun and totally touristy. We also walked around the city for a little and admired all the pretty store windows and Christmas decorations.

The highlight of our NYC Thanksgiving trip was the food. We went to my favorite restaurant in midtown, 21 Club, which was having Thanksgiving for the first time in 82 years. With so much deep rooted history (it used to be a speakeasy during the prohibition), it's always an interesting and educational experience. We had a semi-traditional dinner of turkey with mushroom gravy, baby root vegetables, and chestnut stuffing.

The best part of the whole meal? We got a private tour of the wine cellar, which was a secret door in the basement where the owners kept their wine inventory during the prohibition. We saw old wine bottles from many famous figures who had eaten at the restaurant like Richard Nixon, Sammy Davis Jr., Elizabeth Taylor, and even Chelsea Clinton. Definitely the most memorable Thanksgiving I've ever had, I'm so thankful I was able to spend it with my friends and family.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!
